INTRODUCTION

Copa Podio has used the round-robin system as the format for its Grands Prix in the MAJOR LEAGUE since its creation in 2011. However, now they are also implementing the round-robin system for their official competitions with the goal of promoting and strengthening Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and helping athletes reach professional levels.

The official championships were launched with the objective of bringing our organization closer to the work of teams spread across Brazil and the world, as well as monitoring the performance of athletes who were previously inaccessible due to the impossibility of following the championships of so many serious organizations spread across Brazil.

STARTING MAY 2022, NO ATHLETE WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER GP'S OR TOURNAMENTS OF ANY BELT WITHOUT HAVING BEEN A CHAMPION IN THE OFFICIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS OF COPA PODIO OR APPEARING IN THE RANKINGS, IN ANY CATEGORY.

  1. CATEGORIES IN COMPETITION AND WEIGHT TABLE

The championship will be open to all belt levels, from kids to masters, according to the official weight table of the event. It will only be possible to compete in one weight category in the championship, as well as the absolute division.

                  NO GI WEIGHT CLASSES

                    GI WEIGHT CLASSES

CHILDREN: GROUP AND AGE DIVISIONS

Male and female

ABSOLUTES

Athletes must register for the absolute category during the registration period, but it will not be allowed for the athlete to register only for the absolute category. If an athlete registers only for the weight category and later wants to participate in the absolute category, they can make a new registration by choosing the option "Absolute Only" on the registration form. Athletes can only compete in the absolute category of the same age category, i.e., master weight category competes only in the master absolute, adult weight category competes only in the adult absolute.

Absolutes in Competition

The absolutes will have only one weight division (Free Weight) for the Juvenile, Adult, and Master categories, Blue, Purple, Brown, and Black belts, Male and Female.

CATEGORY GROUPINGS

  • IMPORTANT: It is in the organization's interest and important for athlete ranking that as many matches as possible take place in the categories. For this reason, depending on the number of registrants, there may be groupings among other categories in addition to those listed below, but any grouping will be informed to the competitors through the check-in on the Copa Podio page on Smoothcomp in a timely manner for category changes.
  • The following categories are pre-grouped:

Youth and Children's Male: White + Grey

Youth and Children's Female: White + Grey

Youth and Children's Male: Yellow + Orange + Green

Youth and Children's Female: Yellow + Orange + Green Infant-

Juvenile Female: Yellow + Orange + Green Infant-

Juvenile Male: Yellow + Orange + Green

Adult Female: Brown + Black Master

Female: Brown + Black Master

Male Absolute: Master 1 + Master 2 + Master 3

Master Female Absolute: Master 1 + Master 2 + Master 3

WEIGH-IN

Before their first match, the athlete weigh in with Gi if you join only the GI division.

Without GI if you join both divisions gi/no-gi and your weight has to be what is stipulated by the no-gi division.

There will be only one opportunity for the athlete to weigh in. If the competitor does not make the weight requirement for their category, they will be automatically disqualified. Please make sure you are registered in the correct category. If the athlete cannot make weight according to their category, they cannot move up to a higher category on the day of the event. There will be no second weigh-in. An athlete who does not make the weight that was informed during the event registration is automatically disqualified. An athlete who does not show up for weigh-in will have their name called by the event organizers, and if they still do not show up after the third call, the athlete is disqualified from the competition.

PRIZES AND RANKING

a) OFFICIAL MEDALS: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places on the podium.

b) SELECTION OF ATHLETES FOR COPA PÓDIO'S ACCESS AND PROFESSIONAL LEAGUES: Starting from May 2022, only champions or ranked athletes in official championships or semi-finalists of previous season's Grand Prix events will be eligible to participate in the main Professional League (Brown and Black belts) and the Access Leagues (The Orange League, Azules, Purple Games, Iron Brown Belt, or other leagues or super fights promoted by the organization).

c) ATHLETE RANKING

All champions of official championships will become part of Copa Pódio's official ranking, which will be regularly updated on the organization's page on Smoothcomp, where each win by points or advantages in championships will count as 1 point in the ranking, and a win by submission will correspond to 3 points. The ranking points will be cumulative and will not reset between belt ranks, meaning white belt champions will carry their points to the next graduation and the same will happen with all graduations. Regardless of ranking, in any official championship, the organization of Copa Pódio may choose, among the champions, fighters of any rank or age to join the access and main leagues.

d) RANKING AND SPECIAL TEAM LEAGUE
